Lake Worth Beach Hosts Midnight Sun Festival Celebrating Finnish-American Culture in Palm Beach County
Midnight Sun Festival Celebrates Finnish-American Culture in Palm Beach County with a Weekend of Heritage, Education, and Fun for the Whole Family
The 42nd Annual Midnight Sun Festival, Palm Beach County’s premier celebration of Finnish-American culture, returns to Lake Worth Beach’s Bryant Park Friday 2/28 – Sunday 3/2 for an unforgettable weekend of heritage, entertainment, and family-friendly activities. This not-for-profit event invites attendees of all backgrounds and nationalities to experience the rich traditions of Finland right here in South Florida. The whole family can enjoy learning about Finland’s history, innovations, and contributions to art, music, and global culture. The festival will feature a variety of cultural, educational, and interactive experiences, including:
Taste of Finland – A showcase of authentic Finnish cuisine, including traditional pastries, fresh salmon, and the beloved Finnish coffee culture. (Did you know the most coffee per capita in the world is consumed in Finland?)
Classic & Exotic Car Show – A dazzling display of vehicles, blending Finnish appreciation for design and American muscle. (Did you know the St. Louis arch was designed by a Finn?)
Live Music & Performances – Some of the most popular entertainers from Finland will bring folk and contemporary music to Lake Worth. (Did you know that Finland boasts the highest number of heavy metal bands of any country?)
Kids’ Zone & Family Activities – Fun for all ages, with games, crafts, and engaging cultural experiences. (Finland is, after all, the happiest country in the world!)
World-Infamous Wife Carrying Contest – The festival culminates on Sunday with the internationally recognized “Eukonkanto” (Wife Carrying Contest), where teams race for glory (and the grand prize of the wife’s weight in beer or Finnish Long Drink!).
For over four decades, the Midnight Sun Festival has been a beloved tradition, celebrating the deep ties between Finland and the Finnish-American community in Palm Beach County. This event is made possible through the support of local volunteers, businesses, and cultural organizations dedicated to preserving and sharing cultural heritage. Join us for a weekend of learning, laughter, food, fun, and Finnish spirit!
Kiitos!
