College Park Brochure

The neighborhood that would come to be known as College Park was an early development that expanded the emerging city beyond its central downtown core northward. College Park's significant growth occurred primarily between 1925 - 1928 and 1945 - 1949.

NE Lucerne Brochure

Located North of Lake Worth Beach’s major east/west streets, Lake and Lucerne Avenues, the Northeast Lucerne Historic District is similar in its early history to the Southeast Lucerne Historic District. The two districts are separated by the predominantly commercial historic district area known as “Old Town.” Although it’s primary period of significance ranged from 1915 through 1952, it continues to expand growth through present day.

Old Lucerne Brochure

The region in which Lake Worth Beach is located was largely uninhabited through the Civil War. In 1906, a land reclamation project was initiated with the intent to drain 500,000 acres of the Florida Everglades hoping to convert the wetlands into fertile soil for farming. In 1912, the Palm Beach Farms Company acquired 60,000 acres in the area and named it “Lucerne”. Shortly after platting Lucerne, the establishment of the local post office would reveal that name “Lucerne” was already taken by another Florida town, and so “Lake Worth” became the new town name. The town incorporated the following year in 1913.

Old Town Brochure

The approximately 16 acre district known as “Old Town” is the commercial core of downtown Lake Worth Beach, and is home to a variety of historic building styles. Most of the historic building stock in “Old Town” is from the 1920s, but the time period for which the district derives its significance spans from 1912 through 1949.

SE Lucerne Brochure

Located south of Lake Worth Beach’s major east/west streets, Lake and Lucerne Avenues, the Southeast Lucerne Historic District is similar in its early history to the Northeast Lucerne Historic District. The two districts are separated by the predominantly commercial area known as “Old Town” which itself is a historic district.

South Palm Park Brochure

South Palm Park is an approximately 60-block residential and commercial district that lies southeast of Old Town, with Bryant Park and the Intracoastal Waterway as its eastern boundary. A wooden drawbridge was constructed in 1919 across the Intracoastal from the barrier island of Palm Beach providing yet another way for people to access Lake Worth Beach. The neighborhood was platted in 1925 at the height of the Florida land boom.
